Everyday I go to class or kicking it with my dudes and I always get asked how do I make enough money to cover rent,plus by random worthless **** and so on without holding a steady job. Now most if not everyone at Cleveland State knows I sell a little bud(which is illegal) but what they dont know is that this is only 1/6 of my income,I hardly make even enough to pay for a months or two months worth of food doing this. What they dont know is my other 5 forms of bringing in cash without mom dukes or loans helping me out. Heres what I do.1.Donate Plasma. Around Cleveland you can go to these places and usually get about 80 dollars a week for just spending 4 hours at most in the clinic. These 80 dollars are more than enough to keep your mini fridge or room stocked with food or beer. Or perhaps you wanna go out to a party and so on. Heck sometimes I pay my phone bill with this. All it requires to donate is a state ID and social security card and not have any STD's and your good to go.Most places let you donate 2 times a week and up to 7 times a month not counting leap years.2.Use your talents. If you have a talent use it around your city. For instance I'm a pretty good singer,rapper,dancer and basketball player plus I have some skills with the camera. So usually around 1:00 when the daily lunch rush downtown is happening I'll hit up downtown and promote myself while making a few dollars. I'll throw my hat on the ground and just go at it,I did this 2 days ago and ended up with 34 dollars in a span of 2 hours. I know that doesnt sound like a lot,but from this I gained recognition from local bars so they'll give me shots to come and sing while getting paid there. Last weekend I made 100 dollars just because I put my talents of full display. Dont be afriad either,just get out and do it. In the summer I'll head to local parks and hustle guys for money in games of basketball, a nice summer day will usually bring me about 50 dollars sometimes even 200 dollars(rare though). Even still its money.3.Give your time to medical trials,Yes go ahead and become a human guinea pig. Ive been doing this for 6 months now and I get paid 200 dollars a session which I get to do two times a month,you do the math and thats 400 dollars of tax free money for whatever. Some people even get paid more. And no you want die or have crazy side effects. These companies test and test the medicine numerous times before they even go into your body. You dont even have side effects they just want to make sure the medicine works for you current sickness. For instance I had a knee issue so I was testing some pain medicine that worked flawlessy. It's good enough until I have to go have surgery next month. However I'm getting paid and no I dont have to have surgery cause of the medicine I have to have surgery to clean out my knee which had to be operated on back in 12th grade. 4.Get a cake mamma or cake daddy. Simple as that. No need to explain even more. If your good with the opposite sex or even the same sex you'll know what I mean. 5.Sell all that stupid **** you dont use. Old clothes,video games,computers,cell phones,shoes,books(especially school books most libraries will buy them from you) and so on. Places like craigslist,ebay,local pawn shops,etc are all great places for this. Ill continue to add on im just in a hurry.

I'm basically going out there on some hustle shit. Basically grind harder than i ever have to make it. Plus momdukes is getting like mad PMS'ey on a nigga. Nas talks education and controversy in hop hop

New York rapper Nas has never shied away from news controversy in his almost two-decade career. Even so, the artist, whose real name is Nasir Jones, has little patience for controversy for the sake of selling albums. “If you’re just faking the funk, if you’re just starting trouble with people just for attention and you got no goal, it’s going to end before it started,” Nas said. “People will catch onto it.”

Nas’ latest untitled album has stirred up plenty of its own trouble. Nas originally called the album N—-r, but left it untitled after criticism around the title. Rev. Jesse Jackson and the NAACP both criticized Nas for the album title, while some artists, including Jay-Z, Alicia Keys and Common, supported it. Nas said he eventually changed the title because he didn’t want the negativity to overwhelm his album’s content.

“I don’t like to feel that somebody is trying to pick out one thing about me and make it negative,” Nas said. “Unfortunately, you have a lot of people who are threatened by people like me, whether they rap or not. I don’t give them any power by saying I’m just selling the n—-r word.”

“If the title isn’t there, the album cover becomes even more powerful,” Nas said, referring to the untitled album’s cover. The cover shows Nas shirtless with flagellation scars in the shape of an “N” on his back.

The counter-culture music Nas makes goes along with his life story. He grew up in the Queensbridge housing projects in Queens, N.Y. After dropping out of middle school, Nas educated himself, studying ancient religious texts and early hip-hop music. The irony of college students paying to see a middle-school dropout is not lost on Nas.

“You wonder what your teachers would say now,” Nas said. “You wonder what people — ‘cause they saw me on the corner — I wonder what they think now.”

Even so, Nas said he still appreciates the value of education and hopes to complete his own some day.
“In education, there’s a lot that’s wrong with the way the system works, but at the same time, it’s very important,” Nas said.

“This is a whole new world for me,” he said when asked what he would study. “Literature is one [major]. And of course, history. I like to think of myself as a historian.”

Nas’ interests show through in his music as well. His songs deal with issues in hip hop music, race relations and other controversial topics.

“The stuff that I listen to the most is not the most radio played,” Nas said. “Radio is important too, but you can’t let everything be about the radio. I like to make music where I’m not always working for the charts.”

“I still do have fun, even though it comes out serious,” he added. “The records that I tend to keep on the album are the ones that are not much about fun.”

Even though his music deals with heavy topics, Nas said the music doesn’t have to be contemplative.
“You can be flying down the highway doing 90 [mph], listening to something like ‘Testify.’ It’s all about how you are feeling.”

Only in Ohio can this happen. Some guy was sentenced to listen to 20 hours of Beethoven for playing his music to loud in his car. Haha im embarrassed to say I'm from Ohio. Heres the full story

A defendant had a hard time facing the music.

Andrew Vactor was facing a $150 fine for playing rap music too loudly on his car stereo in July. But a judge offered to reduce that to $35 if Vactor spent 20 hours listening to classical music by the likes of Bach, Beethoven and Chopin.

Vactor, 24, lasted only about 15 minutes, a probation officer said.

It wasn’t the music, Vactor said, he just needed to be at practice with the rest of the Urbana University basketball team.

“I didn’t have the time to deal with that,” he said. “I just decided to pay the fine.”

Champaign County Municipal Court Judge Susan Fornof-Lippencott says the idea was to force Vactor to listen to something he might not prefer, just as other people had no choice but to listen to his loud rap music.

“I think a lot of people don’t like to be forced to listen to music,” she said.

She’s also taped TV shows for defendants in other cases to watch on topics such as financial responsibility. As she sees it, they get the chance to have their fine reduced “and at the same time broaden their horizons.”

Hip Hop's Global Impact

Hip-hop artist Common, a 2008 Grammy Award winner and five time NAACP Image Award winner, and Bakari Kitwana, co-founder of the first ever National Hip-Hop Political Convention, are the keynote speakers for Third Annual Clarion University Hip-Hop Symposium on Thursday, Oct. 23. The program features speakers from around the world and an International Film Festival based around the theme “Hip-Hop Symposium 2008: Global Impact!”

Common and Kitwana will highlight the day’s events with their presentation at 2 p.m. in Gemmell Student Complex. A panel program will close the activities at 7 p.m. also in the Gemmell Student Complex. Kitwana, in addition to being the co-founder of the first ever National Hip-Hop Political Convention is the author of “The Hip-Hop Generation: Young Blacks and the Crisis in African American Culture.” He is currently an artist-in-residence at the University of Chicago.

Last summer he was called as an expert witness by the ACLU in the case of a junior high school student in Pennsylvania who was expelled for his rap lyrics. His expert testimony was referenced in the judge’s ruling, which allowed the student to return to school.

The former editor of national top-selling music magazine ‘The Source,” Kitwana’s writings have appeared in the Village Voice, The New York Times, The Nation, Savoy and the Progressive. He has taught in the English departments at Texas Southern University and University of Houston Downtown. He’s also been an adjunct professor in the political science department at Kent State University, where he taught a course “The Politics of the Hip-Hop Generation.”

Kitwana has been the editorial director of Third World Press, a consultant for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and for the last decade since the publication of his first book, “The Rap on Gangsta Rap,” has lectured on hip-hop and youth culture at colleges and universities across the country, including Harvard University, Columbia University, New York University, and Stanford University.

His book, “Hip-Hop Generation,” has been adopted as a course book in over 100 college classrooms in a variety of disciplines from sociology, history and Black studies to anthropology, music, and political science. He holds masters degrees in English and education from the University of Rochester. “Why White Kids Love Hip-Hop: Wankstas, Wiggers, Wannabes and the New Reality of Race in America,” is his most recent book.

Hip-Hop artist Common is recognized for his emphasis on family values and departure from the “gansta rap” material and negative posturing sometimes found in popular hip hop or rap lyrics and videos. Born Lonnie Rashid Lynn in 1973, he was raised in Chicago, Ill., becoming the first widely hailed MC to emerge from that area. Under the name Common Sense he signed with Relativity Records in 1991.

He released “Can I Borrow A Dollar” in 1992 and “Resurrection” in 1994, the same year he was forced to abbreviate his name to Common due to a lawsuit by an Orange County-based reggae group called Common Sense.

“Resurrection” commented on the stagnant state of hip-hop and rap with the single, “i used to love h.e.r.” It created discussion within the hip-hop/rap realm, drew attention to his talent, and prompted a lawsuit by rapper Ice Cube, who felt he was maligned in the song. The lawsuit did not end favorably for Common, and litigation slowed the production of “Resurrection.”

Three years later he released “One Day It’ll All Make Sense,” which included a roster of rap and hip-hop’s most talented artists. One of the singles, “Retrospect For Life,” recorded by Common and Lauryn Hill of the Fugees, dealt with the topic of abortion.

Common was in the forefront of an unprecedented wave of family values in the hip-hop community in 1998, the same year he was the headline act for the Elements of Hip-Hop tour. His contributions featured his own father, Lonnie, on a single titled “Pop’s Rap,” an apology from his father for not always being there; and a video of his single “Rap City ” on the BET network told the story of a young black man who decided to do the right thing by his pregnant girlfriend.

Other noted rappers such as Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, and Coolio turned to the joys of fatherhood and marriage in their material, and Common was among those ushering in a new lyrical and spiritual trend toward family values and adulthood.

Kitwana and Common are also part of the 2008-09 Clarion University Martin Luther King Jr. Speaker Series.

The hip-hop activities will begin on Oct. 16 with a Hip-Hop Arts Exhibit in Marwick-Boyd Fine Arts Building.

The day-long events begin at 8:30 a.m. with a radio broadcast in the Gemmell Rotunda. book/CD signings and sales will also be held in the rotunda beginning at 11 a.m.

Two tracks will be run, a general schedule and one for educators. Teachers registering for the educator’s workshop will receive three Act 48 hours. High school students will also be taken on a campus tours and will participate in discussion groups led by Clarion University students.

Immortal Technique Raises Money For Afghan Children

On Thursday, November 20, Immortal Technique will perform live on stage at San Francisco’s DNA Lounge, returning to the Bay to raise funds in support of a badly needed orphanage and medical center in war torn Afghanistan.

Working closely with human rights advocacy organization, Omeid International, Technique’s performance raises funds earmarked for developing the Amin institute in Kabul - where some of the two million orphaned and 60,000 homeless children of Afghanistan will receive full-scale rehabilitation from the devastating effects of war.

Besides just doing the benefit show the hip hop artist Immortal Technique is pledging $10,000 of his own money and is traveling to the war torn heartland of Afghanistan to assure the final stages of construction are completed.

Known far beyond the hip hop community for his fiery assaults on corruption, racism, classism and oppression, Immortal Technique has also garnered a reputation for backing his politics with action, historical context and personal responsibility. The Institute, which is set to begin operating in March 2009, will provide safe housing, education, medical and psychological care and some sense of hope to twenty of these displaced children.

“My people this was not brought to you by some corporate sponsor, nor was it manufactured by some organization that takes 60% of the $ donated for “administrative” purposes. I am not a millionaire. I am not a movie star or a charity organization. I am just a man that heard the call and responded,” said Immortal Technique.

Wars and other conflicts, regardless of their political meaning or benefit always leave in their wake a devastating trail of destitution and hopelessness, especially for children. These young survivors have no politics. They have neither desire for property, prestige or domination over others; rather simply they struggle only to see another day.

These orphaned souls face the dangers of hunger and disease along with the constant threats endemic to failed states in the third world, including extremists, human and opium traffickers and other such predators who take advantage of these helpless children.

The Institute will be a beacon of goodwill in a place that has seen so much negativity and pain, giving many a chance at a real future that otherwise would be incredibly bleak. Real lives will be changed as they are shown what the determination and willingness of compassion can accomplish.

The announcement, expected by the end of the year, shouldn’t surprise many, being that the model-turned-singer has been linked to the group’s creator, Sean “Diddy” Combs. Does Cassie have the stage presence and strong vocals to pull off being lead singer? Maybe that explains the sudden appearances of Miss Cassie lately after the rumored breakup between her and Mr. Combs. Hmmmm.

This is the official album cover for Keyshia’s Cole’s upcoming CD A Different Me. I have mixed feelings about this cover. On the one hand, I like the way the graphic artists made KeyCo’s tattoo the central focus of the album and the way it seems to float off her arm and wrap around her body.

But on the other hand, why does she look like she’s a contestant in the swimsuit competition of the Miss America Pageant? I would have loved to see Keyshia in something a little more classy.

Inside the life and mind of Jim Jones

One of the most common avenues of publicizing a forthcoming release is by having the ever popular album listening party. The current sovereign of Harlem MC’s, Jim Jones along with Damon Dash and J. Kyle Manzay took it one step further and channeled his fourth album, Pray IV Reign(Columbia) through an off Broadway play entitled Hip-Hop Monologues: Inside The Life & Mind Of Jim Jones.

Yes you read correctly, Mr. Capo showcased his acting chops on stage to a packed auditorium of attendees including Dame, video vixen Melissa Ford, supermodel Elle McPherson, Kareem “Biggs” Burke and others.

Held at the 37 Arts Theatre in New York City, the scene was set to present day Harlem, 110^thStreet, complete with citizens of the community: neighborhood boosters, school kids, working men and women, a game of dice off to the side and everyone’s favorite, the begging crack-head.

Chronicling Jim’s life via “E True Harlem World Stories”, the show began with shots being fired and when fired back, Jim is immediately taken into custody for questioning. Pleading his case over “Pull Me Back” one of the first performances from the album, he soon finds himself speaking with the judge played by civil rights icon Dr. Benjamin Chavis.

He is ordered to complete community service including talking with school children through “How To Be A Boss” and attending a sex addiction meeting proclaiming “Pu**y Is My Medicine” as his defense. Things on the home front became shaky as his girlfriend kicks him out due to his conniving ways. The audience, very attentive, took it all in with amazement on how well Jim and his fellow thespians performed.

Prior to the start of the next scene, Jim took a little tumble to the floor on stage left which was only noticed by those in the first two rows. However he handled things smoothly and proceeded onto the stage with “Shawty Wants To Be A Lawyer”. Video snippets from his soon to be released documentary intervened; which touched on Cam’Ron as well as a remembrance of the late Stack Bundles with “My My My”.

Several other songs were reenacted included “Frenimies”, “Precious”, “Reign” and the play ended with the current single “Pop Champagne” as the cast members and Juelz all did it up on stage bringing the performance to a close.

Many will dismiss Jim as a salty rapper who hasn’t quite popped off like his former cohorts, but you have to give the Bird Gang general credit for a well executed presentation.

The supposed “leaked” nude photos of Adrienne Bailon has been exposed as a cheap publicity stunt.

The Cheetah Girls star threatened to take legal action against a thief who allegedly stole her laptop at a NYC airport and then leaked naked pictures of her onto the internet.

The whole story sounded suspicious, especially when the name of her “spokesman” rang out: Jonathan Jaxson.

“Adrienne’s tour with Cheetah Girls will be over December 22nd, so she is then free to pursue other projects and wanted to be seen as more adult and sexy,”wrote Jaxson on his blog. “So after the laptop was stolen we used it as an opportunity to drum up some publicity and start speculating about nude photos, but we never expected anything to get out.”

This is the same Jonathan Jaxson who ran JJ’s gossip blog and who recently sued blogger Perez Hilton for sexual harassment.

Jaxson started out as a celebrity publicist for the Backstreet Boyz and otherHollywood stars before leaving to start his blog.

"The Debtor has every reason to believe that upon his release, he will be reinstated into the NFL, resume his career and be able to earn a substantial living," Vick's attorneys wrote in a disclosure statement filed before a hearing Thursday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Norfolk.

the former Atlanta Falcons star is serving a 23-month sentence in a federal penitentiary for bankrolling a dogfighting ring in rural Virginia and is scheduled to be released on July 20.

Once the NFL's highest-paid player, Vick has assets of $16 million and liabilities of $20.4 million, according to the court filing in which attorneys wrote in extraordinary detail about Vick's dizzying financial mess -- listing a fleet of vehicles, properties, businesses and the extended family he supported.

A Vick attorney said a committee representing all his debtors has proposed a plan to pay off his debt. A judge scheduled a hearing for mid-December on the appointment of a trustee, which Vick's attorneys oppose.

"The committee attorney acknowledged that there's been a lot of progress, so we're hopeful," Peter R. Ginsberg told The Associated Press.

Vick still faces two state felony counts -- dogfighting and animal cruelty. They carry maximum prison terms of 10 years, but under a plea deal, Vick would serve a suspended sentence and a year of probation.

He is scheduled to appear in Surry County Circuit Court on Nov. 25.

Paul K. Campsen, another Vick attorney in the bankruptcy proceeding, said he had not had any contact with the NFL, nor had Vick. While Vick still has a contract with the Falcons, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would have the final say on his return, which he is counting on after he is released.

"That's the hope," Campsen said in an interview. "I think efforts will be made once we get past this."

The attorneys laid out a payment plan to Vick's creditors that includes expected NFL earnings and possible signing bonuses.

Campsen said the reorganization plan involves those expected payments and liquidation of his larger assets.

Ginsberg said if the sides can't agree in December, another hearing will be held in January. Vick was ordered to attend.

Not thinking much about it. Overall just wanting to let people who visit his page see my blog and maybe come to it. And well to my surprise. At about 12:30 today I got a call from his manager asking if I was free between 2:00 and 2:30 to talk to ?uest? So of course me being the dude I am I question the woman on the phone and say some mean things to her. She laughs and hangs up. So at about 2:15 Im walking back from this little boutique back to the crib and my phone rings and a guy with a real soft tone says hi is this Q-Steez. So im bugging cause no one calls me that besides a few people. I say yes and he responds and says hi this is ?uest Love. Again im Becky Skeptical. So I shoot all these questions at him like whats your first name and where were you born, your band members names and so on. He answers all of em right so of course I believe him. I make a mad dash to my crib to grab a pen so I can write the conversation down. Of course I ask if its cool if I post this on my blog. Singer-Actress Has Met With DC Comics, Warner Bros. About Role

If Beyonce Knowles has her way, she'll be putting on the star-spangled outfit and red boots and kicking criminals' butts as Wonder Woman.

Knowles told the Los Angeles Times that she has met with representatives from DC Comics and Warner Brothers about starring in the big-screen version of "Wonder Woman."

"A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing," Knowles said.

The singer said that it would be a dream come true to play Wonder Woman, although filling that costume could be a challenge.

Knowles said that she recently saw the outfit Lynda Carter wore for the classic television series and "her waist was unbelievable."

Carter starred in "The New Adventures of Wonder Woman" from 1975 to 1979.

Knowles, 27, previously starred in "Austin Powers in Goldmember" and "Dreamgirls." She next stars as Etta James in the music-themed drama "Cadillac Records."

Ludacris revealed a bit to Billboard about his next album, Theater of the Mind, scheduled for a September release from Def Jam :

Ludacris is set to release his sixth album, "Theater of the Mind," in September via Def Jam, the rapper tells Bllboard.com. He has been prepping the set while shooting for the upcoming flick "Max Payne."

Calling the album a collection of his experiences up to this point, Ludacris promises that "Theater" will be film-worthy. "Expect the whole album [to be] theatrical," he says. Though he hasn’t yet chosen a first single, he says that a track should drop by June or July.

Ludacris revealed the title of one track, "Let’s Stay Together," produced by DJ Paul of Three6 Mafia. Other producers making contributions to the new album include Dre & Vidal, 9th wonder, Ice Drake and DJ Don Cannon.

The rapper is squeezing in studio time between film shoots in Toronto, Canada, for the big screen adaptation of popular Rockstar video game "Max Payne." He plays NYPD Deputy Police Chief Jim Bravura in the film, which co-stars Mark Wahlberg. Ludacris adds that he’s really excited about his part as Roman in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming film "RocknRolla," slated for October 31. That film also stars Thandie Newton and Jeremy Piven.

"It’s about how the Russian mob came to Europe and took over," says Ludacris. "Then there’s another film at the Tribeca Film Festival called ’Balls Don’t Lie’ with myself and Isaiah Washington about a kid that goes to an orphanage but is very talented in basketball. It’s about how foster kids go in and out of families.

Kanye West and 50 Cent albums to go head-to-head again

In what is looking like a repeat of last year’s epic showdown, Kanye West and 50 Cent could be going head to head again this year as both artists prepare to release their new solo albums in December.

50 Cent has announced he will be releasing his "Before I Self Destruct" album on December 9, while Kanye’s "808’s and Heartbreak" is due the following week.

Last year’s clash was one of the most publicised Hip-Hop stories of the year, with 50 Cent at one point claiming he would retire from rap if he sold less albums to Kanye.

Kanye ultimately went on to win the battle selling around 300,000 more copies of his "Graduation" album than 50 Cent sold of his "Curtis" album in its first week on sale.

The competition between both artists is already heating up with 50 Cent taking shots at West’s new single "Love Lockdown" at a recent show to which Kanye replied "I guarantee this will be 50’s favorite album of mine," on his blog, adding, "this will be gangster’s album of the year."

"Love Lockdown" is now available on Apple’s iTunes and is already the top selling single on the site.

Tupac Hip Hop Producer Johnny “J” Commits Suicide

Johnny Jackson, better-known in the music industry and in hip hop circles as Johnny "J", a multi-platinum songwriter, music producer & former rapper, committed suicide in the LA County jail Oct. 3rd.

The hip hop producer who is perhaps best known for his production on Tupac Shakur’s (2Pac) albums All Eyez on Me and Me Against the World was born in Juárez, Mexico, in 1969 and raised in South Central Los Angeles by his adopted parents whom his father Is African American and his mother is Mexican-American.

Johnny "J" ran Klock Work Entertainment and had worked with many hip hop, rap and R&B artists over his career.

The hip hop producer Johnny “J” also helped hip hop rapper Candyman become the first hip hop rapper On Epic Records to go platinum with his work on the classic track Knockin’ Boots.

Early reports are that the hip hop notable jumped off a tier in the jail causing his death the night of Oct. 3rd. He was in the county jail on a dui charge.

Johnny leaves his wife and 2 children.

The Game avoids Jail On Cousin-Beating Charges

The Game will avoid a jail sentence for attacking his cousin at a family funeral if he attends 36 anger management meetings in the next five months. The star fought his relative over funeral costs at the service in July.

Robert ’Kirky’ Kirkwood filed a police report accusing the star of punching him at his sister Shannon Johnson’s funeral and the rapper was arrested and charged with criminal battery.

Speaking shortly after the incident, The Game revealed he felt like his extended family were using emotional blackmail to get him to pay for all of the funeral expenses.

But, on Tuesday , a California judge told the rapper, real name Jayceon Taylor, the charges against him will be quashed if he completes the anger management meetings by February 2009, reports TMZ.com.

Taylor faced jail if convicted, because he is currently on parole for a previous firearms offense, which landed him behind bars earlier this year.

Kanye West Arrested at LAX

Kanye West has just been arrested at LAX for felony vandalism, TMZ reports. Kanye allegedlyhad an altercation with a photograph and threw his camera to the ground.

TMZ says : ’Our photog then began videotaping the scene when Kanye’s assistant grabbed our camera — a struggle ensued and the assistant threw the video camera to the ground, breaking it.

When Kanye realized our camera guy had videotaped the incident, he rushed our guy and yelled, "Gimme that f**king tape !"’

Both Kanye and his assistant have been arrested, TMZ will release the video later today.

Beyonce To Drop New Album In November

Beyonce’s third solo effort is scheduled for release on November 18.

The R&B diva will showcase her “most personal, reflective and revelatory collection to-date,” reported Reuters.

On October 7, two singles from the album will receive radio play. The first being “If I Were a Boy” and the other titled “Single Ladies.”

Beyonce co-wrote and co-produced all of the tracks on the as of yet, untitled album. This album release will be Beyonce’s third solo album via Columbia Records.

Jadakiss Bows To Pressure To Change Album Name

Jadakiss has been forced to change the name of his upcoming album Kiss My Ass after the title received negative feedback from retailers.

The Lox star has now bowed to industry pressure and the LP will now be called The Last Kiss.

He says, "I had to change the name of my album. Kiss My Ass wasn’t testing well at retail. Not even with the exclamations or none of that. So we had to switch it to The Last Kiss." But the MC insists the title isn’t hinting at his retirement - it’s just the end of an era.

He adds, "Some people asked me is it my last album. Nah, it’s just ... the first album was Kiss The Game Goodbye ; the second one was The Kiss of Death, so this one was The Last Kiss. Gnarls Barkley To Release ’Who’s Gonna Save My Soul’ EP Nov. 11

On November 11th, Gnarls Barkley will release an EP celebrating "Who’s Gonna Save My Soul," the most potent, haunting song from their acclaimed album The Odd Couple. Common And Eminem Set For December Releases

Common has confirmed that his forthcoming album, "Universal Mind Control," will be released on December 9 via Geffen Records.

The album is set to feature guest appearances from Pharrell Williams, Cee-Lo and Kanye West as well as production from the Neptunes and Mr. DJ.

Joe Budden is currently wrapping up his upcoming album, “Padded Room,” which will be his first studio LP since his 2003 debut.

"It’s complete," Budden says of "Padded Room," which will be released by Amalgam Digital. "It basically will be in the same vein as ’Mood Muzik,’ just a little more structure and the mood will probably be a little lighter. I’m definitely pleased with the direction that it’s going."

The New Jersey-based rapper first began working on his sophomore album in 2004, originally titled “The Growth.” But the project was scrapped after a dispute with Def Jam Recordings, prompting Budden to eventually leave the label.

“The relationship [with Def Jam] went sour over the years, not something that just happened spontaneously or instantly. It was kind of a developing process.”

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of rapper/actor MOS DEF.

Las Vegas authorities are on the hunt for the star, real name Dante Smith, following his alleged attack on a fashion photographer in August (08).Mos Def faces charges of felony robbery and malicious destruction of private property, according to TMZ.com.Photographer Volker Corell claims the rap star ripped a camera from his neck, smashed it to the ground and then took off with it.

John "Illa J" Yancey, younger brother of late, great genius producer James Yancey (aka Jay Dee, J Dilla), is currently completing his debut album for Delicious Vinyl. With the multi-talented Illa J rhyming and singing over a treasure trove of previously untouched Jay Dee gems, the project represents both a full-circle collaboration and a whole new beginning in the story of the musically exceptional Yancey brothers.

When Jay Dee passed away from complications relating to lupus in February 2006, he left behind an extraordinary legacy of production work, including hits for Common, Janet Jackson, and Busta Rhymes. One mother lode of previously untouched beats dates from his time working on the Pharcyde’s sophomore album "Labcabincalifornia" (1995). As DV owner and founder Michael Ross explains, "From ’95 through ’98 Jay Dee was my go-to guy for hot beats and remixes.

He was always making beats, always. So there was a select amount of tracks that he composed for me during that time, tracks as good as anything he’d done, only they never got used. When I finally met Illa J last year, I gave him a CD containing those unreleased beats." It was a case of pure serendipity, since 21-year-old Illa J had just relocated to Los Angeles and constructed a studio built around Jay Dee’s own recording equipment, dubbing it Yancey Boy Studios in tribute to their fraternal bond. "Dilla was twelve years older than me," Illa J says. "So back in the day in Detroit I was just a little kid, sitting on the stairs in our house, watching him make those first beats for Slum Village. So I always felt my brother’s tracks and had an instinct for what I wanted to do over them."

When Illa J set to work in early 2008 on recording the album, the project flowed quickly as he entered the proverbial can’t-miss zone. As Illa J says, "One of the things I learned from my brother is that you don’t get that much time, so make the most of it. That’s why I’ve decided to dedicate my life to doing what I love : music. To work with Delicious, the label that released those hits my brother made with The Pharcyde ("Runnin’" and "Drop") is really special." Michael Ross says, "Illa J can write, sing, play instruments and rap.

Not just a little bit of each, he’s really the complete package ! And anyone who loves Jay Dee’s music is going to flip out when they hear what Illa J’s been laying down. For over a decade these beats have been waiting in the vault for this moment. It’s like Jay Dee made these tracks with an extrasensory purpose, so that Illa J could make this album. There is no question that this is exactly what they were meant for. These beats belong to Illa J, they’re his birthright, and I really believe Jay Dee would be proud of what his brother is doing."
